SciAps offers two platforms for handheld XRF guns.
At 2.75 lbs., the X-550 and X-505 are the lightest analyzers ever created, in a mostly metal frame for ultimate durability and duty cycle. The narrow, slender form factor accesses the toughest test locations, with the latest 2.7″ (68.6mm) display for rear viewing of grade and chemistry.
The totally re-engineered X-200, X-250 and X-50 are the lowest priced XRF guns on the market, yet still offer best-in-class analytical and speed performance, with all all the accuracy and throughput of the X-550 and X-505. Now with improved heat dissipation, reduced weight, and new user-interface.

SciAps Premium XRF Analyzers
The X-550 sets a new performance standard for handheld XRF. Weighing 2.8 lbs. (1.3 kg) with the battery, it’s the smallest, lightest, fastest XRF analyzer on the market. It’s fast on all alloys and as good on aluminums as it is on high temps for the scrap market, and it comes with fully loaded apps for NDT (Residuals, Sulfidic Corrosion, Alloy).
The X-550 uses the industry’s most powerful X-ray tube, operating up to 3x the power in the Beam 2 setting compared to the SciAps X-505 and any other handheld XRF analyzers. The unique geometry and tube power optimize performance for low atomic number measurement applications including sulfidic corrosion (low Si), phosphorus and sulfur, and aluminum alloys, as well as for residuals analysis per API 751 and 5L specifications.
What’s the difference between the premium X-550 and X-505? The answer is simple: Speed on low atomic number elements such as Mg, Al, Si, P and S. When the X-550 runs at about 3x the X-ray power in the “Beam 2” setting (also known as the low voltage setting) compared to the X-505 or other handheld XRF analyzers, the measured intensities from Mg, Al, Si, P and S (plus K, Ca and Cl in other apps) are 3x higher, producing 3x faster measurements with the X-550.
The X-550 and X-505 also come with A-list accessibility. They offer the narrowest form factor for reaching even the most difficult testing locations.

Want the accuracy and throughput of the premium models, but in a lower-priced series of analyzers? Then consider the totally re-engineered “value” series, with improved heat dissipation, reduced weight, new user-interface. All internal electronics now use less power and operate at higher temperatures—no drift or shutdown.

X-250, X-200 Silicon drift-detector (SDD) models. Competitively priced for every performance requirement. This platform weighs about 3.4 lbs, making it about 0.5 lbs heavier than the X-505/550 platform, but still with industry leading speed and precision. The X-250 is the value version of the X-550. The X-200 is the value version of the X-505, similarly sacrificing a little speed on Mg, Si, Al, P and S.
X-50 The “old school” PiN diode technology. Great basic analysis of transition and heavy metals. A great value for analyzing basic alloys including stainless, high temps, copper alloys.

SciAps X-250, X-200 Shutter
The X features a novel high speed shutter that only opens during testing. The shutter eliminates the single biggest cause of broken detectors — stray fingers, tools, or pieces of metal that strike the detector between tests.

ProfileBuilder PC software
SciAps ProfileBuilder desktop software is loaded with common industry certified reference materials (CRMs with assays), and users may add more for local geochemistry. View calibration curves, generate new ones, build highly customized models for your own elements of interest. Overlay and compare mineral spectra and more. Third-party software compatibility: SciAps is pleased to export data to many third-party software packages, such as mining related software from Leapfrog and IoGlobal. XRF Test Stand
The SciAps Test Stand allows you to turn your X-200 handheld into a bench-top analyzer. Fully shielded with hardware interlocks, it’s designed for reliability, durability and safety. The super stable base positions your samples correctly regardless of what’s going on around you. Integrated fans keep the analyzer cool even at the most extreme duty cycles and environments.
X-ray and Laser in One Box
The SciAps X and Z run on the same software platform, operating system (Android App-based) and have the same UI. Any operator is easily trained for both analyzers.
