Popular “OneBox” packages combining both XRF andLIBS devices for battery metals and strategic metals

PowerHouse X

The SciAps PowerHouse X utilizes an 80kV miniature X-ray tube, which can efficiently excite the K shell emission lines for both light and heavy REEs. By analyzing these high energy K-lines, the complicated spectral overlaps with common metals are avoided completely, yielding unprecedented limits of detection and better performance than any other portable XRF.

Heavy REEs: Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Yb, Lu
Light REEs: La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu

Portable, battery powered, and easily transported from site to site.

Z-9 Liquidator Test Station

Combined with the Z-903 handheld LIBS, the Z-9 Liquidator provides fast and easy analysis of brines in the field or in the lab. With only 1-2 mL of sample per test (no dilution necessary), the Z-9 Liquidator samples the liquid and atomizes it into a fine mist which is then analyzed by the Z-903 LIBS. Within seconds, the concentration of Li and other key elements are displayed on nearby tablet or PC. The test station simultaneously measures Li plus B, Na, Mg, K, Ca, and more.

No more waiting days, weeks or even months for results from complicated lab techniques!

The Essential Tools for Mineral Exploration

ASD FieldSpec

The ASD FieldSpec® is SciAps’ most advanced spectroradiometer, designed for maximum sensitivity in outdoor and remote sensing environments. With a superior signal-to-noise ratio and factory-installed fiber optic cable, FieldSpec® delivers highly accurate spectral data—ideal for applications using natural sunlight, such as satellite ground-truthing, environmental monitoring, and hyperspectral imaging support. It’s the top choice when precision under uncontrolled lighting conditions is critical. TerraSpec® and LabSpec® are also available now through SciAps.
"We have tested the analyzer extensively over the last couple of days and we are extremely impressed and would recommend any serious explorer (especially in the lithium industry) to make use of it."

“The PowerHouse X is calibrated with 48 elements across the periodic table, but it’s specialized for the rare earth elements. The 80 kV is important for testing REEs, especially the heavier elements that are difficult to test with a handheld.”

Handheld LIBS

Breakthrough technology

The acceptance of handheld LIBS for in-field geochemistry is accelerating, as noted in new independent studies, and the SciAps Z features the most advanced LIBS technology of any handheld. Integrated argon gas purge (optional) yields better limits of detection for many elements compared to air-based analysis. Internal 3D stage raster the laser allowing for surgical analysis of inclusions or veins if desired, all easily viewed through the integrated camera and laser targeting.

SciAps LIBS measures low atomic number elements that X-ray can’t, including Li, Be, B, C, F, Na, plus the many transition and heavy metals that X-ray also measures. LIBS is an optical technique and is therefore very sensitive to the low atomic number elements. No X-rays means no travel restrictions or licensing headaches.

X-550 Geochem: Premium performance begins with the 5.5W X-ray tube, delivering best-in-class light element performance for ultra low detection limits of elements like Si, P, S, Mg and Al. Need optimal performance on rare earth elements or gold pathfinders like Ag or Sb? The X-550 has an optional 50 kV Mining calibration for even better LODs on these heavier elements. This X-ray tube combined with the latest large area silicon drift detector technology and super tight X-ray geometry yields fast, precise results even on the hardest elements to measure with handheld XRF. Download the specifications.

X-555: The latest version of SciAps flagship X-500 series delivers the most advanced X-ray tube technology available, led by a 55 kV X-ray tube – the world’s only handheld XRF with this capability. The 55 kV operation, rather than the industry typical 50 kV, delivers higher performance for critical “light” and some “heavy” REEs, making it a superior option for REE analysis. Download the specifications.

In-line XRF: Now available in a handle-less version to be used with the popular GERDA automated table sampling system to automatically scan thousands of samples per day.

Most Powerful Handheld XRF Analyzer

Delivering the power of a 55kV tube optimal for rare earth elements.

SciAps X-555 leads with a 55 kV X-ray tube, the world’s only handheld XRF with this capability. The 55 kV operation, rather than the industry typical 50 kV, delivers higher performance for critical “light” REEs and some “heavy” REEs, making it a superior option for REE analysis.

With the higher voltage, the X-555 effectively analyzes all of the light REEs including lanthanum, cerium, praseodymium, neodymium, and samarium; and heavy REEs europium and gadolinium. An additional X-ray beam setting in the unit provides optimal analysis for heavy REE yttrium, which is a widely used pathfinder for the family of strategic heavy REEs such as dysprosium, thulium and ytterbium. The standard beam also analyzes 30-plus low atomic number elements, transition and other heavy metals of interest to the mining community.

In-field Gold and Silver Analysis

SciAps X-555 and detectORETM for significantly lower detection.

The X-555 + detectORE™ technique enables in-field measurement of gold in geological samples, dramatically reducing analysis times from months to potentially the same day. Since silver is often associated with gold and serves as a useful pathfinder in exploration, being able to measure both metals in the field is highly valuable. Traditional portable XRF (pXRF) has limited sensitivity to silver (typically ~2 ppm LOD), but the SciAps X-555 pXRF, used with detectORE™, offers significantly improved sensitivity due to its higher energy (55kV) X-ray tube and larger detector. The method achieved detection limits of 40 ppb for gold and 0.4 ppm for silver, significantly better than standard pXRF. This suggests detectORE™, especially when paired with the SciAps X-555, can enhance precious metal exploration and mining efficiency. Download the ApNote
